Mother's Necklace and Monogrammed Necklace

I hope you and your loved ones had a very nice Christmas this year.  Ours did, and we have one more Christmas family get together before we are all done.  I know it has been quiet around here for a while, but I have been busy getting items listed, working on some Christmas projects, and shipping orders.

I did want to share with you a couple of gifts that I made this year.  (The recipients have already received these, so it won't ruin any surprises, but that is why I didn't post them earlier.)  I know a few months back, I shared some of my new etched pendants.  These were on brass, copper, and pewter.  I was able to acquire the equipment that I needed to be able to etch on silver.  So the pictures below are of a couple of gifts that I etched on silver using my new tools.

The mother's necklace was etched into the metal.  The names will patina over time allowing them to stand out a little more.

Mother's necklace with names etched into the silver, and birthstone dangles.

The monogrammed pendant was etched with the "L" raised.

Monogrammed necklace.  The "L" is raised.  The background could have a patina added to make the lettering stand out more.  This pendant is about 5/8" in diameter.

I love how these both turned out, and that I have the ability of doing both an "etched in" and "raised" effect.  I'll start offering both of these in my store over the next couple of months.

Anyway, hoping your Christmas was great, and that you have a terrific new year!

Blessings,

~Leah

Updated items in the store & Coupon code

I hope you have all had a terrific Thanksgiving!  We had a lot of good time spent both with our immediate and extended families.

I have been working extremely hard over the last week or so, and think that I finally have everything up and listed in the store.  I'll be going through things to verify, but all the new leaf products, as well as fused glass, and the pendants I have worked on are all on there.  I didn't realize how much there was.

Also, I have a coupon for black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, that is good until midnight Monday night.  If you type in coupon code THANKFUL2013, you can receive 10% off your order.

If you are looking for something custom, please let me know.  There is still time for custom orders to be made and sent before Christmas.

~Thanks for stopping by,

Choosing Necklaces for Necklines

As I was browsing online about a month ago, I came across this cool little chart on Pinterest and Polyvore.  It is a great reference of what styles of necklaces go well with which necklines.  It is helpful for those challenging necklines.  Thought it might be fun to share it with all of you. . .

Hope your day is going well!

New Etched Metal Pendants

I've always liked the look of stamped metal, especially on pendants and bracelet tags.  I think they always look really cool.  My challenge with stamping over the years is myself.  I love adding sentiments to tags, but it takes me a really long time to do, especially if it is longer than one word.  I struggle with the challenge of lining things up, and not having it come out, dare I say it, perfect. That is why I was so excited when this summer, I taught myself how to metal etch.

I love that I can draw or transfer the design to the metal, and then put it in a solution that carves out the design.  I also love the opportunity that etching has, and I have a ton of ideas running around in my head on how I want to use it.  I can see how using calligraphy, and other methods can translate into initials, sayings, etc.   I'm so excited to continue to explore this.

After doing some test runs, and seeing how stuff came out, I was so excited and decided to jump in with both feet.  These pendants were the outcome, and I love them. I've attached a few pictures below.  Unfortunately, I'm still new at figuring out the best way to photograph things, and some of the pictures aren't as good as I'd like them to be. These pendants are all made from brass, copper, and pewter.  I'm hoping to add silver in the near future as well.

Brass etched pendant with birds flying through tree branches-Polished and shiny

Now on a side note, I wish I could say that I drew these pictures, but I can't.  I actually purchased them from a very talented artist and transferred them to the metal.

Some of these are already up and listed in the store here Etched Pendants, and I'm in the process of adding the others.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

New Clearance Section in Store

Hello! I hope all of you are having a terrific week! We're finally starting to get our home-school routines down. It sure seems like some years, it takes a little longer than others. In our family, our daughter is shifting out of the elementary phase and into the middle school phase, so there is definitely a little more adjustment with that. I'm trying to enjoy this season of life and all the changes that come along with it.

I know I said in my last entry that I was going to be getting more listings up, and I am slowly in the process of doing so. I'll post some pictures of some of my new items within the next week. In the meantime though, I am trying to clear out some older inventory to make room for some of the new items. Over the next week I'll be adding some already existing items in my store to a Clearance section. Most of these items will be heavily discounted. There is nothing wrong with any of them, I'd just like to have someone enjoying them, rather than have them sitting in my inventory.

If you'd like to view that section of the store, you can follow this link Clearance Items. I'll also get a link added to the shop section here.

I hope your September has treated you well!  I can't believe that October is already just a couple days away.

 Thanks for stopping by,

Nampa Festival of the Arts

My family and I had fun last weekend at the Nampa Festival.  Saturday was quite warm in the afternoon, but on Sunday we had a pleasant breeze and it was a little cooler.  It was nice to meet those of you who stopped by the booth.

There are quite a few items that I had on display and are not in the store yet.  I'm planning to get a few of those posted each day over the next couple of weeks.  If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, please send me an e-mail.

Here are a few pictures of my booth from over the weekend.

New items in the store

I've been working like crazy the last couple of days to try and get everything listed in the store before the Art Festival next week.  I've gotten more of the leaf jewelry (both earrings and necklaces) on there as well as the rest of the hair accessories that I put together a couple of weeks ago.  Now that the products I have completed are all tagged and organized, I'm planning on spending the next few days out in the shop finishing up some items and if I have time, starting a few new ones.  I'm really looking forward to next weekend, and sharing some of my new products.

Thank you so much for stopping by,

Prepping for Nampa

It has definitely been warm in our area of the country.  The shop has felt like a sauna.  I'm happy to say that I've been toughing it out and getting some new glass, pendants, and other inventory prepped for the Nampa Festival that is quickly approaching.  I've also been working diligently to get a few custom orders put together and shipped.  In the meantime I am also slowly getting some new hair clips added to the shop with a variety of crystal colors.  If you are in the Nampa area the weekend of August 10th, I would love it if you stopped by to say "Hi."  I'm hoping that you are able to enjoy your summer, even if it is a little warm.

Thanks for stopping by,

Quick Hello

Hi! I hope you had a great 4th of July and you were able to celebrate with those you love.  We had a quiet day topped off with a few fireworks and watching our neighbors set off theirs.  Last week was our church's VBS and we had a ton of fun!  I spent the week doing crafts with over a hundred kiddos between the ages of four and six.  Now my focus will be on prepping for the Nampa Festival of the Arts in August, as well as having some fun family time.  I'm planning on spending some time next week in the shop (hopefully it won't be too hot).  In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying your summer!

Thanks for stopping by,

A Few New Summer Items

I know I've been a little quiet this past week, but we as a family have been getting out and enjoying a little summer before it gets too hot.  We've been biking on the greenbelt, swimming, and hanging out with friends.  I've also been prepping for our church's vbs that takes place in a couple of weeks.

I have been in the shop on and off, and have a few new things to list this week.  I'm hoping these listings will be up closer to the beginning of this week and not the end.  A couple pairs of sterling silver post earrings, and a ring that I made last year, but finally have it polished up and sanded to a beautiful shine.  I'll let you know when I get them in the store, but in the meantime, here are a few pictures.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Experimenting With Some New Materials

In March I had mentioned some new materials that I was going to do some experimenting with.  Well, it has been a while, but I do finally have a couple of pictures to show you of one of them.  It is a substance called epoxy clay, and I'm so excited to use it more.  It seems that the possibilities are endless.  I made this pair of bobby pins with a blue epoxy clay, some crystal chatons, and beads.  I love the way they came out.

I also experimented with a ring kit.  I hand-set each of the crystal chatons into the clay, which holds them in place when it dries.  For a first run, I think it turned out pretty well.  I love the way it shines in the light.

I think my next project with the clay, will be a pair of post earrings with crystal chatons.  I think they would be a fun little addition.

New Mobius Weave Earrings in the Store

We had such a beautiful day on Thursday so I decided I would take advantage of it by sitting on our patio and making some earrings. I think that the blue and orange mobius weave flowers are a lot of fun, and a good way to wear game day colors in a more creative way. I thought it would be fun to make up some earrings that are the colors of the local schools in our area. I got those up and listed in the store tonight. If there are different color combinations that you are looking for, let me know and I'd be happy to make some custom earrings. I have rings in all the different colors that you can find in the store currently in stock (red, white, green, silver, blue, gold, black, purple, kelly green, brown, dark blue, maroon, orange).  I'll attach some pictures below as well.

I hope you have all had a terrific Memorial Day weekend and am so thankful for all of you who have served, are currently serving, and will be serving in the future. I appreciate the sacrifice of you and your families.

 God Bless,

 ~Leah

New Shop Photos

Spring has finally arrived here in our area of the Pacific Northwest.  Maybe I should more correctly state that summer was here, and then it switched back to spring.  This time of year, we live by the saying "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it'll change."  Anyway. . . .we are wrapping up our school year.  Just a couple more things to finish up and hours to get in before we get to enjoy our less structured learning that the summer months offer us.

In the meantime, I've been moving all my tools, supplies, and materials into my new shop.  It has been a lot of fun, and I'm so excited that everything is now organized and has its own place.  I can actually find things, and at least for the moment, there is no clutter!  I am so excited to get out there this week and start creating! As soon as I get my new photo light box, I'll start posting some pictures of some past and current projects.  Until then, I've got a few of my new shop below.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

An Update, and new listings coming soon

So I know I've been on hiatus for a while.  It has been cold here, and I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold, so I haven't spent a lot of time in the shop.  We've also been trying to get caught up on our homeschooling after our crazy run of illnesses in our house this fall and winter.  We've never had a year where we have been sick so much.  I think March is the first month since last September that nobody has been sick.  I'm so ready for the warmer spring weather to get here.

In the meantime though, I've ordered more of the electroplated leaves and gotten them assembled into earrings and necklaces.  I'm hoping to get pictures of those over the next couple of days and get them posted up on Etsy.  These have been a popular item in the store.

I've also been experimenting with some new materials.  Not sure if it will go anywhere, but I love to try new things.  I've been playing around with cement and resins.  I'm also excited to get my hands on a new clay to play around with.  I'll post some pictures when I have something better to show than just a couple of test pieces.

I hope this winter has been treating you well, and that you are able to enjoy a little bit of spring this week.

A Little Christmas Project

I know I've been away from the blog for a while, but I've been trying to get as much family time in before we started back at our school work.  We've had a lot of fun learning and exploring.  It has been really cold here, and the cold was topped off with a few inches of snow yesterday.  Beautiful, but with it being so cold, I haven't even wanted to step out into my shop area, even to clean, and it really needs cleaned.  In the meantime though, I thought I would post a few pictures of one of the custom projects I did for Christmas.

My customer came to me and was looking for something special and unique to give to his wife for Christmas.  She doesn't like big jewelry and he was considering getting her something from one of the larger chain jewelry stores.  We came up with a design that was unique and both she and he loved it.  The earrings and necklace are made of all sterling silver wire, jump rings, bezels, etc.  I hand formed the pendant and heart parts of the earrings and then soldered in pre-made bezel cups and earring posts.  Since his wife's birthday is in October, I added opal cabs.  It is a little hard to see the way the opals beautifully reflect the light in the pictures, but they are much more brilliant in person.  This was such a fun project to work on and I was so excited with how they turned out.
