Hoping you all had a Merry Christmas!

I hope that you and your families had a very Merry Christmas!  My week leading up to the big day was filled with finishing a couple of custom orders and getting the last minute things done.  We also celebrated a birthday in there (yes, my husband and kids all have birthdays around Christmas, and now my new little niece does as well).  My daughter and I had a couple of little projects that we did together.  We still have one more Christmas day to celebrate on Saturday with my husband's immediate family that we are looking forward to.  I hope you are enjoying the few days leading up to the new year.  We are spending our few quiet days relaxing and cleaning out and getting items ready to donate to make room for all the new stuff!  Wishing you many blessings in the new year.
As always, thanks for stopping by

Christmas has landed

I hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving!  We had a terrific day with family and then on black Friday enjoyed going down to the Festival of Trees.  It was a lot of fun, and my son especially enjoyed it this year.

I'm happy to say that Christmas has landed at our house.  We have all of our decorations up and it is very bright and cheerful in our house.  I love our tree with its eclectic collection of hand-made, hand-me-down, and a few ornaments I've purchased over the years.

I've been working with the kids to come up with creative gift ideas that they can make and give to family and friends.  I think some of the best gifts are the hand-made ones that I've received and I want to try to instill in my kiddos that a gift doesn't have to cost a lot to be special, sometimes the simple hand-made things are much more meaningful than anything else.  I think that is one of the reasons that I love making jewelry and other crafts.  There is more of a story behind it that something machine made and purchased at the mall.

Even though it is getting busier around here I am doing my best to get orders shipped out as quickly as possible.

I hope your family can enjoy this season even with all of the craziness it can sometimes bring.

Thanks!
Leah

Finally Catching up. . .

I am so thankful that we've been able to get almost caught up on our schoolwork after being sick for so long, so now we can enjoy the rest of the week and relax a little, yay!  We did take some time off yesterday afternoon to go bowling with some friends and it was such a nice diversion.  I've been burning the late night oil the last couple of nights to get the remaining inventory items online and posted on Etsy.  Whew!  I didn't realize how much there was.  I'm getting there though, and it feels really good to be making some progress.  I think I only have about 15-20 items left.  Most of it is metalsmithed and fused glass items.  For now I'll keep truckin along.

Stay tuned.  On Friday I'll be posting some coupon codes on both Facebook and here.  I myself plan to avoid the black Friday craziness and do some shopping on Etsy.  I always love the quality of hand-made over mass produced.

If you want a peek at what is new in the store, check it out. . .

More new items up

I just wanted to let you know that I've been able to get a few more listings up this week.  I'm finally starting to feel better from the flu (Don't get it this year.  It seems to hang on forever).  I am a little more clear-headed this week, which makes the listings go much easier and with fewer mistakes.  Below are all items that I've recently listed and were made by hand using silversmithing techniques like sawing, filing, melting, soldering, etc.

New Listings

I'm working on getting some new listings up this weekend.  I've just added two pairs of copper disk earrings, one hammered and domed, and one stamped pair.  I'm hoping to get the other silversmithed items as well as the leaf necklaces and earrings done this weekend as well. . . Below are pictures of the earrings.

New Facebook App, Illness, and new listings coming soon

I don't know if your house has been dealing with as much of the cold season as ours has, but I feel like we've really been hit hard this season.  I can't remember the last time that we have had so much illness in our family.  I'm hoping that you are not going through the same in your home.  It has given me some time, since the kids haven't felt well enough to do school this week, to get some things caught up around the house as well as get a few business things done.  I recently found an app that allows you to view my Etsy store directly from Facebook.  If you browse and find an item that you like, it allows you to share or like it on Facebook, and also has a pin-it button for Pinterest.  I'm hoping that I'll be able to add a Wanelo button soon too.  I'm still in the process of trying to find something that allows me to have my Etsy listings directly on my website as well.

My daughter and I had a fun time at the Meridian Middle School Craft bazaar this past weekend too.  We got to meet a lot of people.  I have some inventory that I am still in the process of getting listed on Etsy, and will keep you posted as I get the items up there.

I'm praying good health for you and your families!

Prepping and some new pictures

So I've been prepping for the last couple of weeks for the Meridian Middle School craft bazaar this weekend.  I'm really looking forward to a fun weekend as people get an early start on their Christmas lists.  Since I've been getting some new items put together, I took pictures of a few things.  These items are not currently listed in my Etsy store yet, but I'm hoping to get them listed over the next week.  If you see a picture of something that you would like, and is not yet listed, let me know and I can send you an invoice and set it aside for you.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Craft Show

So I thought I'd let you know that I have secured a spot in a local craft show.  I will be in the main building at the Meridian Middle School Craft Bazaar on November 3rd and 4th.  It should be a fun way to start out the Christmas shopping season.  If you happen to be in the are that weekend, please come and say "Hi!"

Catching up still. . . .

So I don't even know how to explain how insane life has felt lately.  We're still trying to get the last little kinks worked out of our home-school schedule and all the other fall activities that seem to have started.  Needless to say, I haven't had a ton of time to blog or even get out and work on projects.  I'm so ready to get back to work though.  I love fall.  It is my favorite season.  I am waiting for all the beautiful colors on the trees, pumpkin patches, long sleeved shirts, and boots.  Anyway, I hope that things are to a point where they are settling a little, and I'll have some more time.  Be looking for some new listings to show up online soon!

Thanks for stopping by,

Catching up

I know I've been a little quiet on the blogging front lately, aside from the few announcements here and there, but things have been really busy around here.  We took a quick vacation last week and then started back on our school routine this week.  Needless to say, we're trying to ease into a new schedule.  I haven't had much time to get out into the shop this week.  I'm hoping that maybe Saturday will be the day.  In the meantime though, I have been ordering supplies and stocking up on items to bring some fun & new ideas that I have to life.  I ordered some very fun stamping blanks, some awesome birthstone charms, and some pewter in sheet and wire form.  I have also been slowly starting to list a few new items that were ready for the festival of the arts but haven't been posted to Etsy yet.  Be watching for the listings soon.

Our vacation was very fun!  We got to see a lot of things.  One of my favorite pictures was this one that we took while eating outside on one of the piers.  Could possibly be some inspiration for future projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Some Custom projects I've been working on

I've had a few custom orders over the last couple of weeks that I thought I would share with you.  All are custom stamping jobs and I think they turned out well!  I thought I'd share them with you.

Customer wanted Two initial tags and one with love on it.  These were
oxidized to give them a  more vintage look and will look really good when
they are attached tothe leather bracelet.

Customer wanted a necklace to give to her 3 year old daughter.
We did two flower tags since her name is Lilly.  One with her name
on it and one that says "love mommy 2012".

Customer saw the copper charm necklaces that I had at the Nampa Festival
of the Arts and requested one with her initial on it in sterling silver.  I added
it to a leather cord that I put together so it was her preferred length.

That announcement that I was hoping to make, it'll have to wait a couple of more days.

Thanks for stopping by.

Pictures From this Weekend

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth this weekend in Nampa.  It was a hot, and smokey weekend, but it was encouraging to see so many people out enjoying all the different arts and crafts that the artists around here had created.  It really was a fun weekend!  Here are a few pictures of my booth and displays this year.

Also, I have a few exciting things coming up later this month.  I'm hoping to announce one later this week or the beginning of next week.

It was a very hot, but fun day today at the Nampa Festival of the Arts.  It is always so fun for me to meet new people and see all the other creative ideas and products that the other vendors come up with.   If any of you are in the Nampa area tomorrow, feel free to swing by and say "Hi."  I'd love to meet you!  I will be in booth C-31 over by the playground.

New pendant

So you know how you just have one of those days sometimes where nothing seems to be going right?  I've had a couple of days like that.  On Sunday night, my husband was out of the house and I was hanging with the kids.  I attempted to close my son's blinds and lost my balance.  Needless to say the bottom of my foot after it tried to land on the metal bed frame was not in good shape.  I was finally able to walk in a somewhat normal way yesterday so thought I'd try to finish up a couple of rings.  I couldn't for the life of me, get the solder to flow the correct way.  So I called it an early night.

I decided to work on some easier and less technical things now, but hoping that later I can finish up those rings.  Anyway. . . since I need some encouragement of what can be accomplished.  I wanted to show you a progression of a pendant that I just listed.

This is how it looked when I started it.  I was originally going to leave it like this or add more flowers to the other side, but the design just wasn't appealing to me or talking to me.  So I decided to take a couple of pieces that I had removed from the flower of a different pendant and this is how it turned out.  I'm pretty excited by the way it came out.

This is a perfect example of how my ideas change as I'm working with the materials.  I often go into a project with one idea and then bend the metal one way or another and something completely different comes out.  I love it when it turns out like this!

And remember that glass I fused the other day?  I'll be posting some more pictures of where some of it ended up.

Thanks for stopping by!

New Items in store

So I just got all the new blue and orange items listed on Etsy.  I can make duplications as well as variations of these and am planning on having these similar designs stocked for the Nampa Festival of the Arts.  I've also got some copper and sterling pendants and earrings ready to list up there, as well as some rings and new items in process.  I plan to be busy over the next few weeks getting stuff "hammered" out.  Here are the items I listed today that go well with the mobius earrings I posted a few days ago.

Blue & Orange

I'm currently gearing up for the Nampa Festival of the Arts that takes place the weekend of August 11th.  One of the things that I wanted to do this year is have some blue and orange themed jewelry.  Go Broncos!  Anyway, I know there is a lot of stuff out there, but I wanted to make some items that were a little more simple and hopefully something that not everyone else has.  I ordered some custom jump rings and I'm excited about how the mobius earrings as well as the beaded ones came out.  Here are some pictures.

Fired Glass

I don't have a whole lot to say today, but I thought I'd show you some before and after photos of the glass that I fired in the kiln the other day.  I was excited to see how the different cabs came out, since sometimes there are fun surprises in how the glass fuses and what the colors look like when they are done.  I'm excited to get these in settings and on rings, earrings, and bracelets!

My shop

I made it out to our very hot garage today for a few minutes to run some glass through the kiln.  We've had 100+ temps here the last couple of days so the 1600 degree kiln running in the 90+ degree garage got a little warm.  I'm hoping to use the small glass cabs that I fused today in rings and maybe a few bracelets.  Still waiting for them to cool.  When I pull them out I'll get some pictures so I can show you some befores and afters.  In the meantime though, I got some pictures of my somewhat cleaned up shop.  Thought I'd post a couple of those for you.  So this is where I am spending my time when I'm creating anything that needs a torch, sawing, hammering, or firing in the kiln.

My awesome shelves that hubby put up for me.
Loving the large tabletop that this old scrapbook table has. . .

So much awesome storage!

Anxious to get back to work

Hope everyone had a terrific 4th of July.  We had a fun day at the park with family followed by watching our neighbors set off fireworks.  So fun to watch the lit up sky.  Now that the holiday is past and things are starting to slow down a little (ie, I'm getting caught up on the day to day things), I'm anxious to get out in my shop area and work.  First up, I'm hoping to run some glass through the kiln and get going on some glass bracelets and rings.  Stay tuned for my works in progress.  I'm also so excited for my organized workspace. I've got a great used scrapbook table set up so I have a ton more room!

Busy Week

This week has been a little crazy busy for me.  I've been blessed with the privilege of helping to co-lead the preschool crafts for our church's VBS.  It is a week-long program.  I've gotten to hang out with 82 preschoolers and some awesome adult and teen helpers.  Throughout the week I've had my hands covered in glitter glue, tacky glue, sparkles, and foam.  We've made slap bracelets, tambourines, mosaic boxes, and tomorrow we get to make planters and plant some bean seeds and sprouts in them.  Should be exciting!  Anyway, haven't made it out to the shop much this week, except to clean it up a bit.  Hoping to be out there next week and fire some glass.  I also have a few new metal-smithed items in copper and silver that I'm hoping to get pictures of and post.  Those bean sprouts sure are cool to see in all their different stages.  Thinking of creating some type of bean sprout pendant.  The idea is still rolling in the back of my brain.  We'll have to see how it develops.  Maybe next week. . .

Delving into a blog

I thought I'd delve into the world of blogging so that I could share some of my jewelry making processes, as well as some of the things that inspire me.  Topics could vary anywhere from scattered and random thoughts to photos.  I never know where the inspiration for new jewelry design ideas will come and sometimes the materials take on a life of their own, much different from my original ideas.  I hope you'll check back from time to time to see what projects I'm working on and to say "hi."

Thanks for stopping by!
